My wife and kids and I were watching that old Shirley Temple movie, "The Little Princess" the other day. There's a pretty sweet dream sequence close to the end of the movie where the Shirley Temple character dreams that she is a princess. She sits as "judge" when a young man is accused of "stealing a kiss" from a young lady. The young lady vindicates the young man by explaining that she allowed the kiss, thus the kiss was not "stolen".
During that scene, our ten year old daughter turned to me and asked, "Steal a kiss? How can someone steal a kiss?" Ah, to be so innocent and naive again. The pure and honest heart that asked me that question showed me again what JESUS meant when HE explained that people "such as these" will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Children see things simply, and with innocent eyes. We always have to make mountains out of molehills as we see things from our point of view instead of GOD's point of view, and that tends to complicate things. In 2 Corinthians chapter 11, Paul is writing to the church in Corinth with great concern because they are believing lies told to them by heretics and false prophets. They're listening to a perverted "gospel", one that has been changed by people to meet their wants, and not their needs. TRUTH, when edited and changed, is no longer TRUTH. 2 Corinthians 11:3 Paul said something like this, "I'm afraid that like the serpent decieved Eve, you'll all be led away from the simplicity of the Gospel of JESUS."
Simplicity..."Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed." (Psalm 85:10)
Nothing stolen...Everything given.
